Anastasis (Resurrection) Minimal Icon
This design is in collaboration with artist Evelea Flynn and her series of Minimal Ccons. Evelea grew up in our parish and this icon was part of a collection of four Holy Week icons she created for our bulletin covers for Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday.
It follows an ancient pattern of an anastasis (resurrection) icon, including several traditional features such as:
—Two jagged mountain peaks that represent the gates of death that Christ defeated with Christ standing in between to bridge the distance between life and death and heaven and earth.
—Jesus reaching to lift Adam and Eve out of their graves, resurrecting the image of God, male and female, and making it possible to be human again as new creations in Christ.

About the Shirt:
