This shirt is based on one of the most beautiful prayers in the western liturgy. The full collect goes like this:
O God, who wonderfully created, and yet more wonderfully restored, the dignity of human nature: Grant that we may share the divine life of him who humbled himself to share our humanity, your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
In the Anglican Book of Common Prayer, it is also included in the Easter Vigil service after the first reading, The Creation, from Genesis 1-2:3. It echoes Psalm 139 that God in his good creation of the world, culminating in the making of each person, male and female in his image, is doing something truly wonderful.
This collect is not only connected to the creation, it is also connected to the incarnation of Jesus. Roman Catholics pray this prayer at their Christmas Day mass, and Anglicans pray it on the second Sunday of Christmas. God’s restoration of humanity has begun in coming of Jesus as fully man and fully God.
